Crane Assisted Tree Removal

Due to the nature of tree care and working in elevated positions makes the industry one of the most dangerous. At times, the size, health, inability to access, proximity to structures and overhead lines make it extremely dangerous and difficult to remove in the traditional manner. The specific location and size of the tree increases the likelihood that damage and/or injury will occur. Yet, leaving a large tree that is damaged, dead, diseased, or leaning is a greater threat to life and/or property making tree removal the only viable option for safety reasons.

Under these circumstances it is safer, and more effective and efficient to remove it by utilizing a crane. Crane assisted tree removal can safely remove trees in limited access areas, due to structures, overhead lines, fences, etc. Cranes also reduce the time and energy needed to remove trees because they are capable of lifting larger and heavier sections.

Emergency Tree Services

Trees are necessary and are a great benefit to our environment. Unfortunately, there are times when they grow too close to homes, out buildings, parking areas, and overhead utility lines. During and after severe storms, we often find ourselves in great danger when trees and large branches have fallen on structures, vehicles, overhead utility lines, fences, etc.  We have the equipment, knowledge, and experience to help.

Bracing and Cabling

Bracing and Cabling

Bracing and cabling are proactive techniques to support poor or weak tree structures on larger trees. Commonly used to reduce stress from high winds, weight of ice or snow, and heavy foliage. We identify critical points and give recommendations. Proper hardware is installed to strengthen the tree and improve longevity.

Professionals Know Proper Tree Care

Here at R&R Tree Trimming and Removal, we have seen numerous large trees “lion-tailed”, or even “topped”, with all the canopy removed! While some of these trees may recover, they are forever changed and even more dangerous than before. Arborists know the proper way to trim and thin trees without leaving stubbed limbs and unstable trunks.

Many people are surprised that a proper and healthy tree trim often removes less than they expect. According to tree science, it is best to remove no more than 25% of the “live” visible canopy. A regular trim may only remove as little as 15%, removing mostly interior growth. In addition to being more precise, proper trims may take longer or be more labor intensive, accounting for cost differences.

Improper Tree Trimming Damage

The pictures here are called "Lions Tail Pruning" and it can prove to be detrimental to the health and structure stability of the tree. It is an incorrect method of tree trimming, leaving only tufts of leaves and small limbs at the ends of the larger branches.

Trees that receive this kind of trim suffer from malnutrition, sun burn, and increased limb breakage. Removing excessive amounts of leaves reduces the ability of a tree to make food. Exposing previously shaded bark to the full sun causes it to split, creating open wounds. Reducing the branches to a small tuft at the end of a limb creates a sail that catches the wind, often snapping the branch(s).

Improper Topping Damage

“Topping” a tree, or removing all visible canopy, does serious harm to the natural growth of the tree and can cause long-lasting damage. This is called topping. Tree topping is the drastic removal, or cutting back, of large branches in mature trees, leaving large, open wounds which subject the tree to disease and decay.

Topping causes immediate injury to the tree and ultimately results in early failure or death of the tree. The branches that grow after a tree has been cut in this manner are weaker and break easier.
